Hormone Replacement Therapy

As we age, shifts in hormones can cause uncomfortable and distressing symptoms. During menopause, many women experience hot flashes, night sweats, pain during sex, vaginal dryness, brain fog, fatigue, and emotional changes. Hormone replacement therapy may relieve symptoms associated with menopause. There are several options available including synthetic and bioidentical hormones. For men, suboptimal testosterone levels can cause fatigue, low libido, emotional changes, and decreased muscle mass.

I have a special interest in supporting aging women and men manage hormonal shifts using menopausal hormone therapy, testosterone optimization therapy, diet and lifestyle changes, and herbal medicine. As one of the only naturopathic doctors in Vermont offering hormone replacement therapy to both women and men, I offer an integrative, comprehensive perspective on hormone management that is not easily found with other providers.

Because hormone replacement therapy comes with certain risks, my focus on prevention allows me to work with patients to reduce risk for chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. As a primary care provider, I am diligent about making sure my patients have necessary screening exams, blood work, imaging, and referrals to ensure they are safe while using hormone replacement therapy.

Services Offered:

During my medical internship and residency, I completed six women’s health-focused rotations with Dr. Tammy Ashney. I have a special interest in supporting women with safe and effective menopausal hormone therapy, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. I have completed additional training on supporting women in menopause with Dr. Kara Dionisio, one of fewer than ten naturopathic doctors recognized by the North American Menopause Society as a Certified Menopause Practitioner.
